Got a nice day to do some more painting. The first thing I did was clear coat the wagon itself. Wiped it down with acetone to remove more of the oxidized finish and dirt than gave it a couple coats of a gloss clear finish. I think I'm going to give it another coat in about a week to allow the current coat to fully cure. Also painted the brace I added to the rear wheel support Also got some stuff done on the trailer. Painted the ramp board black. Prepared the trailer for the diamond plate mat. Cleaned everything and masked off the area that will have contact cement applied. Spread a coat of contact cement on the trailer and mat. Waited about half an hour for the cement to get just a bit tacky then stuck down the mat to the trailer. Clamped down what I could to make sure it goes nowhere. The mat is now cemented down and shouldn't go anywhere now. Some of the edged didn't stick down as well as I expected to I added some staples to hold the mat down...

Now that the paint on the trailer frame is done, I can start some of the assembly. First was to install the floor panel. This also includes a trim piece at the front and a filler panel in the rear. Then I could install the under carriage and axles supports. Even though they really are not needed, I am making some roll on ramps for the trailer. I made some connectors for the ramps from some old hinges I had on hand. I have a couple long ¼ inch bolds to use to hold the ramps to the trailer. As seen in the pictures above and below, I have finished the pin striping on the trailer. Still have a lot left to do on the trailer. With the trailer moving along, I can also get started on the wagon. The first part will be assembling the frame. This part should take too long.

Added some pinstripes to the trailer. I first tried some colored stain but that didn't work very well so I just used some cheap acrylic paint. It took 2 coats to cover and looks good. I just did the sides today, going to add some design the the front and back tomorrow. The first step was to mask off the stripes. Next was a couple coats of paint. Acrylic doesn't stick to spray paint very well so I will have to clear coat them after painting them. Then remove the tape and we have some stripes.

Finally got some dry and warm enough weather to paint the frame for the low-rider wagon. Wiped it down with acetone to remove any residue Then a few light coats on each side should be sufficient. I hung the frame parts in the garage, I'm going to give them a few day to the paint to totally cure. Signed my handiwork too. Also got the frame for the low-rider trailer painted too. Got a free $20 bonus from Capital One and used it to buy some sparkly silver paint. I'm going to add some green and yellow pinstripes. I have been moving the tires around for the wagons, they always end up somewhere in my way. Built me a little tire rack to hold the tires for now.

When I cut the wood for the trailer frame, I cut the cross supports first then cut the perimeter boards. After assembing all these parts, I found the cross supports to be a bit short. I thought of a couple ways to hide this but nothing struck me as okay. Covering the short boards with wood or metal would look ugly. Then thought I would route a decorative design to hide the error. Found a few ideas online and found one that would be easy. Made a template and cut them out. They should look good after I paint the frame. I need to go over the bottom edge with the roundover bits once more to finish up the design.

Temporarily installed the axle assemblies on the low-rider trailer so I can make the shims for the axles. The wheels for the trailer have 5/8" axle holes but the wagon axles are only 7/16 of an inch. I made some bearing sleeves from copper pipe so the wheels will fit the axles. I also made some plastic spacers to keep dirt and stuff out of the wheel bearings. I was going to wait for a bit to get the plywood for the trailer bed but with the threat of higher lumber prices I decided to get it now. I was going to use fence boards for trailer ramps but they are made from rough cut wood and would be hard to finish. I went with a pine board instead. Something I though of a few weeks ago was a way to keep the trailer from moving while loading and unloading the low-rider wagon. I thought of a half dozen methods to make a parking brake for the trailer but most were complicated. I was looking at using some toggle clamps but I wanted something that works in a straight line. A Goog...
