Part of my low-rider wagon build is what to do with the left-over parts, the axles supports and the handle. I thought I should build another wagon from the parts, all I needed was some tires and a platform to put stuff on. Then one morning while laying in bed, I had an epiphany, build a trailer for the low-rider wagon. Because of the expense of building the low-rider has exceeded my expectations, I decided to do this build as cheap as possible. The first part was cleaning the leftover parts, they were pretty oxidized like the wagon tub. Instead of using a rubbing compound, I just used some spray cleaner and a piece of Scotch-Brite. Everything came out looking good enough, the only painting I may do is spray a bit of black on the rusty spots. I have some wood slats from a bed in my shed and decided to use one to build the frame the bed. I’m not sure what kind of wood it is but it’s fairly heavy. It measures 2¼ by 1 inch. The outside of the frame measures 52 by 28 inches. I will add some...

For the past couple weeks I have been working on a way to attach my handle to the low-rider wagon. I decided to not use the original plastic egg that came with the wagon, it was pretty beat up. I tried a couple other things without success. Then while looking at the top of the handle, I came up with an idea. I would use a short piece of pipe with plugs in the end. I will attach this with the same clamp I am using to attach the handle to the wagon pull bar.  The only issue I found was the plugs are plastic and would likely deform quickly when used. I needed to find a filler for that short piece of tube. I searched through the stuff in my garage and found nothing. I went to Home Depot and a Dollar Tree, found nothing. I wanted to use a piece of dowel, 1 inch was too big and 7/8 inch was too small. Friday night I looked in a box of electrical stuff looking for a light socket and found something that would work. It is a rubber plug for a water tight wire conduit. I trimmed it a b...

Been trying to get some of the small parts painted, it's been a challenge with the cold weather. I paint the parts outside then bring them into the rec room to warm up and cure. I'm thinking about making me a hot box to dry and cure the paint. I used one back when I use to build model cars.  Something that has been a challenge is how to put a slight bend in the handle for the wagon. I looked at a conduit bender but the radius was too large, I wanted to keep the bend in a small area of the pipe. My fear was putting some kind of kink or bend in the pipe, I wanted a nice smooth bend like the original handle pipe. I watched some You Tube videos and saw some ideas. Most involved filling the pipe with sand then heating it up till red. I have sand but don't have any way to heat the pipe. I capped one end of the pipe, filled it with sand, packed the sand tight then capped the other end. I used the trailer hitch receptacle on my truck and a couple pieces of plywood and got the bend...

Got something in the mail a few days ago for the wagon. This is actually available if someone wanted to get a personalized license plate.

During our first trip to the Grand Design RV Rally in 2022, the husband of one of the group administrators referred a folding wagon he used to transport things as an “stupid wagon”. Prior to the 2023 rally, it was announced that there was going to be an stupid wagon contest. I took our plastic garden wagon and pulled it around with a light up Christmas reindeer wearing a Hawaiian shirt. Someone pulling a little Radio Flyer wagon won the contest. In 2024, we did not attend the rally. The winner of the stupid wagon contest was a decorated standard sized Radio Flyer wagon. I decided then that I needed something totally different to wow the rally goers and win the Stupid Wagon contest. I decided to build a low-rider wagon. I had seen pictures of some, and they looked pretty cool. I started a search for a wagon a few months ago but wasn’t having much luck. Then my daughter and her husband had to move, and they were selling off some stuff to raise some money. One of the items they ...
